Dental Implants

Straumann Dental ImplantsDental implants provide a foundation for the restorative dentist to replace missing teeth to form and function. Facial contours and tooth space are also maintained by replacing missing teeth. Implants fuse to the bone like hip replacements. After a healing period of one to six months, a post* and a crown are made for the implant. Implants may also attach to a removable denture like an anchor holds a boat, giving denture wearers a vastly improved feel to their teeth.

The implant we use most often are Straumann Implants®, a costlier implant that has a higher level of success. It is the choice of many clinical researchers in implant dentistry.

Patients can walk out of the office with a tooth the same day in some cases. New technology has sped up the time needed for the implant to fuse to the bone. This means a shorter treatment time for patients. Sometimes when there is not enough bone for the implant, new bone may be grown using bone grafts, orthodontics, or membranes.

*Posts are rods or cylinders that connect the crown to the implant.
